Age and Eligibility Criteria:

The Minimum acceptable age limit for the post of general banking Officers in Bank of India is 21 years and Maximum age limit is 35 years

Educational Qualification:

The candidate must have passed his graduation from an Approved college/University with at least 60% marks.

Selection Procedure: In order to get finally selected as a General Banking Officer in Bank Of India, The candidates has to clear through a two- step Selection procedure.

The first Step Consists of a Written test while the second step is an Interview round which is given by the candidates who qualify the first round successfully.

The final selection is based on Merit List as a result on Marks obtained in Written test as well as the interview.

Nature of the Examination:

The Written test is also of two parts. First part consists of Objective type Questions which is of 2 hours duration whereas the second part of the written test contains Subjective type questions.

In order to clear the written test successfully the general category candidates need to score atleast 50% marks in Objective and 50% in Subjective part.

Only those candidates are called for the interview who qualify the first Written Round of the selection procedure.

Types of Questions:

The whole first round of written test has objective questions consisting of 300 marks. Out of these 300, The subdivision is done as follows.

  • Reasoning Ability: 150 Marks, 100 Questions
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 75 Marks, 50 Questions
  • General Awareness: 75 Marks, 50 Questions

The Second round of the written test consists of 5 Questions which are mostly related to current development and Communication Skills. These 5 questions are mandatory to be answered within a certain time Limit and Word Limit.

Syllabus Scan: The questions in the written test are mainly related to the reasoning ability, quantitative aptitude and general awareness. This includes the two subsection of reasoning ie. Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning. The subsections in Quantitative Aptitude consists of Arithmetic, geometry, Area- Mensuration and Statistics. Verbal reasoning includes Number Series, English alphabetical series, Coding –decoding, Syllogism, Puzzles and other question of such type.

Non verbal section contains problems related to Visual puzzles and Questions.

Negative MARKING: Nowadays, negative marking ha been made compulsory in almost all competitive examinations. In this exam too, one forth (.25) marks get deducted on Wrongly answering a question. This means four wrong answers will deduct marks equivalent to 1 correctly Answered question. That’s why strategy and planning plays a key role in these type of situations.

How to prepare. ?

It is compulsory to score atleast 50% marks Individually in each of the subsection of the objective test. For this candidates need to target all significant topics in every subsection and practice them a lot. And In order to get the name in the Merit list you must try to get more and more marks.

For Current Affairs, you must keep an eyes over the important and significant events in the past Six months. But the significant events during the last 3-4 months definitely weigh more.

For descriptive test , The practice of last years question paper will be of help.
